Silver Acer Aspire 5 A515-43-R19L is a, portable and powerful, modern slim laptop with a 15.6″ Full HD display,  mid-range Ryzen3 3200U processor, Vega 3 graphics, 128GB Solid State Drive, 4GB DDR4 memory, Windows 10 in S mode, backlit keyboard and good connectivity options.

It is offered with two types of backpacks- Acer Predator rolltop or gaming hybrid, a mouse or a projector. You can also purchase the Acer Aspire 5 with the more powerful Ryzen 5-3500U processor, Vega 8 graphics, 8GB RAM and 256 GB SSD (A515-43-R5RE) or Ryzen 7-3700U, Vega 10 graphics, 8GB RAM and 512GB SSD (A515-43-R6DE). These three popular, hot new release models have an average customer rating of 4.4 out of 5 stars by 5171 users. The dual core early 2019 release Ryzen 3 3200U processor (4 threads) on the base model works at the speeds between 2.6GHz and 3.5GHz.

If you go for the Ryzen 5 or Ryzen 7 processor versions, they can handle pretty much all tasks easily without lagging or delays. And the basic Ryzen 3 model with 4GB memory and 128GB SSD is ideal for everyday computing. The Passmark benchmark score is 4240 for a decent performance overall and the Typical Thermal Design Power is 15 watts for up to 7.5 hours of battery life from its lithium ion battery. As a Picasso APU, it is about 8% faster than its predecessor Ryzen 3 2200U processor 4GB DDR4 SDRAM at 2400MHz offers basic multitasking power at this price level and you can always upgrade it up to 32GB for running apps and browser tabs more smoothly.

15.6″ FHD widescreen LED-backlit non-touch display with thin bezels has the 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution and 16:9 image aspect ratio. The panel is IPS for all three models and you have great 178-degree viewing angles. Acer BlueLightShield helps protect your eyes from strain when you look at the screen all day long. Vega 3 built-in graphics card offers a performance level of around the NVIDIA GeForce 910M and you can’t really play the latest demanding games even at the reduced settings. Connectivity options include the Gigabit Ethernt LAN with RJ-45 connector, 802.11ac wireless, Bluetooth 4.0, an HDMI output with the HDCP support, 2 x USB 2.0 ports, a USB 3.1 gen 1 port, a Media Card Reader and a headphone/microphone combo. You can type comfortably in the dark or dim light on the backlit keyboard. It weighs 3.97 pounds and measures 14.31L x 9.74W x 0.71H inches- is compact and lightweight. It looks nice with the slim and compact design and metal top lid.

For the memory upgrade you can replace the 4GB with an 8GB stick and add another 8GB for a total of 16GB and that will be plenty for most users. It doesn’t matter if you get this computer with a Windows 10 in S mode or regular Home mode. You can leave the S mode through the Start screen and Microsoft Store easily. But bear in mind that once you do the switch to Windows Home, you can’t go back to the S mode. SSD on this computer has the NVMe with an m.2 connection and a 2.5″ SATA drive is available for adding another SSD. You’re probably aware that the base model is not a gaming machine but a capable, decent and competent one at a reasonable price. The warranty on this machine is one year from your date of purchase and a RAM or SSD upgrade won’t void the warranty unless you damage the computer.
