DEWALT DCP580B 20V MAX Brushless Planer Review

DEWALT DCP580B 20V MAX Brushless Planer

DEWALT DCP580B 20V MAX Brushless Planer

DEWALT DCP580B is the brand new cordless hand planer with a brushless motor that runs on 20V MAX lithium ion battery. You get the performance of 32,000 cuts per minute (power and runtime) with the 15,000rpm rating and quick removal rate with 5/64” max cut depth from its brushless motor. It has a black knob at the front for adjusting the depth from 0 up to 5/64 inches (roughly 2mm), in 3/32 inch increments (5/64 inch rabbet capacity and 3.25 inch width cutting). Aluminium shoes located at the front and rear are precision machined and make sure you get parallel and even cuts at all times. Also precision machined groove at the front will help with the edge grooving. It comes with a kickstand so you can put the planer on your working area without digging the material and has an ergonomic handle that is comfortable to hold and causes less fatigue on user. Poly-V drive on the belt means the belt will last much longer. There are no LED lights and we doubt this is a common feature but it would certainly come in handy. In the box you will find the Dewalt Planer, Wrench, Guide Fence and the User Manual (battery and charger are not included). Yellow and black Dewalt Planer is made of solid plastic, tool itself weighs 6.7 pounds and measures 8 x 6.9 x 16 inches.

DEWALT DCP580B 20V MAX Cordless Brushless Planer

Before this planer was released by Dewalt in May this year, Hitachi, Bosch, Makita and Milwaukee already had the cordless hand planers, with the developments in batteries and brushless motor technology. 15,000rpm rating is the same as on the Dewalt DW690K corded model with a bit less cutting depth than the corded but cordless will really feel much more efficient as it is definitely much less hassle to move it a couple of times being also lighter in weight, than dealing with a cord and will feel more swift and comfy to handle and has easy to adjust guide. One of the customers commented that the footrest at the back can get in the way of your work, the original corded model had it because it was taking around 20 secs to stop the wheel spinning but with this one it stops in 1 to 1.5 secs thanks to the electric brake on the blades. It is quite easy to operate, is designed as a user-friendly and ergonomic power tool, is very comfy to hold and the operator will experience a lot less fatigue and most importantly it is very powerful and does the job just fine and you can conveniently connect it to Dewalt universal dust collector. It is made in China and the warranty included is the standard limited 3 years by Dewalt, 1 year free service contract and 90 day money back guarantee.
