Black Hamilton Beach 49976 FlexBrew is a programmable 2-in-1 coffee maker with two water tanks for single cup and carafe, giving you the brewing flexibility. These small reservoirs are easy to fill and have the easy-view windows on both sides when you’re running out of the water.
You can brew your coffee into an 8-inch travel mug or a cup on the single cup side and the carafe side is for making a full pot of coffee. The carafe section has the brew timer that you can easily program up to 24 hours, the 2-hour keep warm feature and then shuts off automatically. So you do not need to worry whether you left the brewer on.
You may also auto-pause and serve as you remove the carafe and pour a cup with zero dripping. You can choose from two strength options- regular or bold. It is nice to have the flexibility of brewing coffee for a single cup, a travel mug or a carafe. But you also have the flexibility to use K-cups for up to 10 oz. or fresh coffee grounds up to 14 oz. for travel mugs from different types of coffee and in different amounts.
You may put your brewing accessories- brew basket and pack holder into the adjustable and detachable cup rest that is also used as a storage container. There is the brew basket where you can put in the coffee grounds of your choice, and a single-serve K-cup pack holder. You can easily take out the K-cup pack piercing section and clean, so there is no clogging due to frequent use. It also works with the Melitta small paper filters nicely.
Black Hamilton Beach weighs 6.4 pounds and measures 10.2 x 10.6 x 13.9 inches- is quite tall. It is very easy to operate with the single touch buttons at the front: Brew Now (I/O), brew strength, set time, program, carafe and single. It brews a carafe in less than 10 minutes and the taste of coffee is reported to be as nice as drip coffee. The regular and bold options are available for both the single cup and carafe.
To brew coffee for a tall mug, you can simply lift the cup rest in the single cup brew section. Please remember to put in the amount of water you need for the single cup you’re making. There is also the cord storage underneath, so there won’t be much clutter. It scores 4.6 / 5 stars out of 35 customer ratings at the time of this review and for the affordable price point, it is quite a decent coffee brewer that makes nice tasting and hot coffee.
