Kalamera 80-Bottle Compressor Wine Cooler

Kalamera KRC-85ASS 80 Bottle Freestanding Compressor Wine Cooler

Kalamera KRC-85ASS is an 80 regular sized bottle capacity, single zone wine cooler with a standalone design and an efficient compressor. It has an elegant appearance, looks good in black and stainless steel and with soft blue LED lighting. It includes a touch control panel at the top, with the Celcius/Fahrenheit button, up and down arrows to adjust the temperature, blue LED-backlit temperature display, and light.

This is a single zone cooler with a wide temperature range of 40 to 66 degrees Fahrenheit for your white, red and sparkling bottles. The optimal temperature range for the red wines is 62 to 68 degrees Fahrenheit and between 49 and 55 degrees for the white bottles. Your wine collection will be kept cool at a stable temperature consistently with the even airflow through all the bottle on the 12 shelves. This is achieved by the slat type strong shelves, advanced cooling technology and the compressor that runs quietly and without any vibrations that would disturb the wine sediments.

Black and stainless steel Kalamera Wine Cooler weighs 112 pounds and measures 19.5 x 22.8 x 50.2 inches including the handle. This is a large capacity wine cooler and will let you create your own home wine cellar. You can keep it in your kitchen, living room, dining room or anywhere you want to show off your wine collection and will actually compliment your home decor nicely. It is reported to run quietly it will not disturb your music, TV or conversation with others. It includes 12 beechwood racks that slide out easily for when you want to organize your bottles or pick one. You can remove one or two of these shelves if you wish to put larger or different shaped bottles, but the capacity will naturally be reduced.

It has a premium look and feel, looks good in black and silver with the tempered double pane glass front with an anti-UV layer. The compressor has 90 watts of power (110V/60Hz and 1.5A current) and is energy efficient with an estimated annual electricity use of 289 KWh and roughly 31 dollars of operating cost. You can adjust the temperature between 40 and 60 degrees with the up and down arrows.

The door hinge is on the right so you will open the door to the right- it doesn’t open to the left. This is a compressor type wine cooler, so you need to let it sit unplugged in the vertical position for about 24 hours. After plugging it in, give it another 24 hours to let it reach the optimal cooling temperature. Then you can put your bottles in, leaving space between them and adequate space between the rear and the flanks. In a case of a power outage, a built-in thermal meter will ensure the temperature goes back down to the temperature before the outage.

The shelves are built strong and there are two stoppers on the sides to stop the shelves in the middle, so your bottles will not fall off. There is a carbon filter against odors that will help keep the air pure for your wine bottles in the cooler. It gets to the desired temperature relatively quickly and does not need to run the compressor often to keep your bottles cool. Please note that some of the shelves are shorter due to the fan at the bottom and the 80 bottle capacity is strictly for Bordeaux type 750ml bottles. Overall this is a decent wine cooler at a reasonable price for what it offers.
