KitchenAid KCM1204OB 12-Cup Coffee Maker Review

KitchenAid KCM1204OB 12-Cup Coffee Maker

KitchenAid KCM1204OB is a 12 cup capacity coffee maker with a single touch brewing functionality. It is offered in onyx black and white, has a beautiful modern design, that is inspired by the look of the famous KitchenAid stand mixer and will blend nicely into your kitchen with high end appliances, will be a nice addition to your countertop and with the flat rear section so you can push it right to the back. It is easy to use with one-touch operation and offers 24-hour programmability, giving you the opportunity to brew your coffee the way you like it. You are guaranteed to get a full-bodied cup of coffee as you can select between bold and regular strengths. After it starts the brewing cycle you can actually pause it and pour a cup of coffee (small batch brewing mode) before the cycle is completed. Filter used on this coffee maker is the same round one used by different brands, which is the standard gold tone flat-bottom fine wire mesh Milita Super Premium circular filter, that can fit anywhere between 8 and 12 cups. And you will not need to get another filter but if you want to, you can always get an unbleached, flat bottom number 4 paper filter after detaching the permanent filter. There is even a charcoal water filter to help enhance the taste of water that goes into your coffee.

It will stay warm for up to a couple of hours following the completion of the brewing process and will turn itself off automatically, just like you can program it to when to start or pause in the middle of brewing to get a cup of coffee, but make sure you put the carafe back or the filter basket may overflow and when you take out the carafe the drips will be shut off completely so there will not be any spillage. It has a conveniently large easy grip handle with the guard for protecting your hand from the hot glass carafe. This is a great looking and functioning coffee maker that is easy to set up and run, with some decent user friendly features and that makes nice tasting coffee but is not the cheapest around and is a bit large as we pointed out but the extra width is needed to fit in the digital display panel with bright LED lights that indicate the time and brew selection, so if you’re looking for something compact, this is not it as it is a bigger unit than the photos with a very large water tank- weighs 7 pounds, measures 9.1 x 11.7 x 15.2 inches- is a bit large. You’ll get a brand new coffee maker so you may want to do a couple of cycles with water or adding some  vinegar in as well, so your coffee tastes good- as it should. And the cleaning indicator will tell you when you’ve done 100 pots of coffee and that it is time to descale it with a 50/50 vinegar and water mix.
