And you can purchase a random orbit backing pad. The small cup is used for sanding disks and abrasive pads.

Those that commented on the shorter battery life need to understand that you will not be polishing your whole car with this Milwaukee Polisher. This battery powered unit needs 12 Volts of voltage to operate.
It is very well built, has an ergonomic user-friendly design, has a good amount of torque, is versatile, works very well with the smaller tasks, tight areas, sanding and grinding. We are happy to recommend this fairly priced, compact unit that is good for small areas. It will get into the tight areas that the large, heavy-duty units can’t.
