PancakeBot 2.0 PNKB01BK2 – Pancake Printer
PancakeBot 2.0 PNKB01BK2 is quite a unique product in terms of what it does and how it functions, as the first 3D food printer in the world that can make pancakes in any design by dispensing batter automatically. This is basically a pancake printer that lets you make pancakes with any design you wish, with the user-friendly and free to download computer program. You can adjust the speed and pressure of printing, includes a black dial for setting the temperature on the front panel, a non-stick flat iron plate and a drip tray underneath to help you avoid the mess. You’ll find a dispenser bottle in the middle at the center of the operation, that works with any type of batter and is very simple to clean and there is an ideal batter recipe included in the box.
You will basically use the free software for exporting different shapes and designs on the SD card that is also included in the package, loading it onto the PancakeBot 2.0 and letting the printer to pancakes in that exact shape. To make your special design on the software’s simple interface, you can either draw your own design or import from your computer’s hard drive and use it as a guide for tracing your pancake, then export the file onto the SD card provided, insert it into SD card slot in front of the PancakeBot, prepare the batter to your taste, thin it down with water or milk, strain the batter, switch on the hot plate, fill the bottle up to the max line and attach the drip cap if it is not already attached, place the bottle into the slot, screw on the cap and check the air hose, press the Power On button, remove the drip cap, place the bottle into the slot making sure the spine is in the biggest slot, let it do the work, flip your pancake and let it sit on the griddle until brown. You can easily pause and restart during the printing process or adjust the speed and pressure so you get the perfect results.
Black PancakeBot 2.0 is made of solid plastic, has a sleek and contemporary look, weighs 13.7 pounds and measures 28.7 x 17.5 x 15 inches. It is easy to assemble and disassemble so you can store it easily and conveniently. In the box, you will get the main PancakeBot, the griddle, an SD Card and the user manual. Any SC card between 1 to 32GB will work with this unit as long as formatted to FAT32.There is a PancakeBot community online at pancakebot.com where you can find more than two hundred pancake designs currently. You should actually try and update to the last firmware to improve the speed of the printer, which can go up to 9600 mm per minute and you don’t want to go above that as it can put pressure on the motor. You will be able to make a pancake within 1 to 4 minutes depending on the complexity of the design. Both the hot plate and the batter bottle are easy to detach and clean. It is easy and a lot of fun to use, and anyone without any drawing skills can use it comfortably and will help bring out the creativity in both kids and adults.
Please note that you have to draw the design of the pancakes manually on the software, whether you do it on your own or by using a photo as a base. You don’t have to use it with the griddle included and you can use your own as long as it fits in. You can’t program it to start printing at a specific time. The PancakeBot 1.0 version didn’t have an SD card or a filter that stops the batter from getting into the air pump, the PancakeBot 2.0 does have them as well as the more user-friendly interface and up to date firmware. There may be a bit of a learning curve with the software and the printer for some people but overall it is quite a user-friendly unit. You may need to play with it for a bit before you being using it properly, with the pressure and thickness and may be a good idea to start out with a ready pancake mix that you just add water to. The software could be better in terms of letting you draw better lines and giving you more options like making circles etc. as it will only let you do free-hand trace drawing, which is OK. Overall this is a great unique product that work and that you can use your creativity with this pancake printer that symbolizes evolution in food printing.
