Swann Surveillance Kit SWDVK-880754-CL is an 8-channel wired unit with a 1080p digital video recorder, 4 fixed lens bullet cameras with 1080p FHD resolution for very clear images and a 1TB storage. It offers a decent 100 feet of night vision, cameras are water and weather resistant with an IP rating of IP66 with IR-cut filters so you have a great viewing at night, so they are suitable for use both indoors and outdoors in different weather conditions. You can view the footage live on your smartphone or tablet when you’re away from home or office- wherever you have the surveillance system installed. And it is compatible with both the Android and iOS devices via the free app, including iPad, iPhone, Android tablets, and smartphones. 1 TB hard drive is quite a good size and lets the system record non-stop at up to 15 frames per second and FHD resolution, for more than four days from its eight channels. By using the network or the USB port you can move the video of a specific incident to external storage.
It includes both the VGA and HDMI ports so you can connect the system to a large screen TV and view everything in high definition with all the finest details you may need, including all the colors, faces or license plates even when at long distances. This surveillance kit is not perfect and has small flaws like any product but for standard usage- monitoring and security it does the job well, in terms of playback, live view, motion detection, search, wide angle viewing and more. You can choose from four modes of Motion, Manual, Continuous and Schedule. The cameras are quite solid, and the operating temperature for the cameras is between -4 and 122 degrees Fahrenheit.
There is no digital zoom or pan-tilt-zoom controls, the DVR can be a little noisy at about 45 decibels when in operation, and the email notifications you receive are a bit small in size and lower in quality and could be bigger for better viewing the details. SRPRO-815CAM cameras included do not have the integrated microphone (and none of the Swann cameras do) and no audio-in on the DVR either but this is common to Swann and other brands. 100’ night vision, in theory, is more like 30 feet in practice with clear image and details but this is expected at the price level. This costs less than 300 dollars at the moment and please keep that in mind when you’re looking at the features, pros, and cons and you can be certain that you’re getting a pretty good deal: It is simple to set up in about an hour, works well with very good picture quality, ability to view on tablet and phone.
