FoodSaver FM5200 2-in-1 Vacuum Sealer and Starter Kit
FoodSaver FM5200 is the brand new 2-in-1 vacuum sealer as part of the FM5000 series for longer and more efficient food preservation as it is designed to keep food fresh up to five times longer, saving you plenty of money every year as you can buy cheaper in bulk and prevent food wasting.
You can have it on your kitchen bench at all times as you’ll probably find yourself using it every day and as it is compact with a smaller footprint than you might expect- measures 9.3 x 17.6 x 9.6 inches and weighs 8.8 pounds. It has a convenient open roll storage design that makes it easy to load rolls and you will see clearly how much is left on the roll for replacing when you need to. The lower sealing cut bar lets you use your bench as your workspace and this unit is designed to reduce the sealing steps by up to 50%. As you place the roll inside and close the lower seal and cut bar and the lever on the sealing position as it automatically does the seal for your next bag and bag wasting will be greatly reduced by around 30%.
The new vacuum view window lets you see where you seal and letting you control the process, as you will precisely measure/select your custom sized bags and cut it by simply sliding the black bit on the cutter. You have the Pulse Vac function that lets you start and stop the vacuuming and sealing when you’re doing more delicate items like muffins, cupcakes, and other baked stuff, with also the Dry/Moist button with Moist for meats. You can use the FM5200 with containers and accessories too and with the Quick Marinade mode, you can marinate your ingredients in a matter of minutes. It includes a patented drip tray underneath as a pull-out drawer as it catches all the liquids that may overflow and is safe to be put in a dishwasher. In the box, you will find the FM5000 series vacuum sealer and a starter kit that includes a variety of FoodSaver seal bags, zipper bags, and rolls.
With the new FM5200, FoodSaver seems to have redesigned the FM5000 series vacuum sealers and there are a few changes like the vertical/upright design that gives it a smaller footprint, the lower section handling all the sealing and cutting duties and the whole centre of the unit being open on both sides and you can put your roll from either left or right. But you just have to do this only with a new roll and remember to push it a little so it gets out a little through the front. You can use the convenient accessory port if you purchase the necessary attachments. We like that this one has a wonderful sealed bag maker and there is much less bag wastage and as soon as you cut a bag, the unit will seal the next one. However it may take a bit of time to get used to with this special vacuum sealer with a different design than other units, so you may expect a bit of a learning curve if you’re especially not too familiar with vacuum sealing systems, but when you get the hang of it, you will see how good it is overall and how much it is upgraded and improved over the older models.
