Starbucks Verismo V Brewer System Review

Starbucks Verismo V Brewer System

Starbucks Verismo V Brewer System

Starbucks Verismo V is a modern and functional brewer system with a unique dual-pressure technology and high-pressure extraction (19-bar / 275 psi max pressure) to make great coffee and espresso with new flavored combinations. It is very easy to use and lets you create your favorite Starbucks beverages in the comfort of your home- straight espresso shots, lattes, cappuccinos, without needing two different machines. It actually replicates almost all the Starbucks drinks by using rich Arabica coffee that is roasted, grounded and packaged into the special Starbucks Verismo pods. There is also a great milk frother by Verismo but is not included in this package and you need to purchase it separately if you’ll be making those great lattes, cappuccinos etc.

When you unpack it from its box you’ll find the main Verismo Brewer, a water tank and a detachable and adjustable drip tray. You’ll see buttons to help you brew the perfect coffee, including milk, rinse, hot water, brewed, and espresso. You need to rinse the water reservoir when you first take it out of the box and fill it with filtered water up to the white line, which is like 3/4 of the whole tank, which is 77.7 fl oz or 2.3 liters. Place the drip tray onto the brewer (will fit in nicely) in one of the two slots provided to fit different cup sizes but it will make a 10 fl oz cup of coffee, which is relatively small. Plug the Verismo in, put your mug on the drip tray, it will blink for about 10-15 seconds till the machine heats up and gets ready for brewing. Black Verismo V is a system mostly made of solid plastic with metal grate on drip tray and metal handle and of two units side-by-side for the brewer and water reservoir, weighs 7.7 pounds and measures 11 x 7.6 x 12.9 inches- you can keep it on your kitchen bench permanently as it will not occupy too much space.

Starbucks Verismo V Espresso Brewer System

You can easily open the handle at the top even with cupboards above it as it is not a very tall unit. It has the auto shut-off function where it will be in standby mode in five minutes so that it consumes less electricity. You can only use it with the special Starbucks Verismo pods and no other brands and although the coffee tastes awesome, it can get a little costly after a while, but still cheaper than buying coffee from Starbucks. And you can use espresso cup seals- foil caps to be able to reuse but you need to fill it not with standard coffee grind but with espresso grind. Espresso pods are copper and brewed pods are silver and you can select from 15 different blends of coffee. Just as a word of warning, you obviously need to like the taste of Starbucks coffees to be able to enjoy the coffee and espresso you get from this smart brewer and you may want to think about the environmental impact of the coffee pods.

Although the pods are mainly the recyclable polypropylene #5, but without the lid and used coffee grounds inside. Up to 19 bar pressure is valid for the espresso and you will get less pressure for the regular coffee pods but with a higher maximum serving size of 10 fluid ounces. If you are into milky espresso beverages and don’t want to pay for the milk frother, you can use the Starbucks’ milk pods but the taste will not be the same as frothed fresh milk. How is it different from other coffee pod machines? The major difference is you are promised the exact taste of coffees you buy at Starbucks. Pods are not cheap at a dollar for a pod which is still cheaper than Starbucks coffee at the store but the cup size is also smaller than the store. Having said that it costs much less than a typical espresso machine that costs several hundreds more and there is the great convenience factor of owning a Verismo V Brewer, that is simple, sleek, quiet, and convenient, for great Starbucks coffees at home!
